Will I Look Good In Plaits? A Self-Isolation Diary
Will I Look Good in Plaits? is a humorous diary of observations about life in lockdown by one of the “so-called old and vulnerable”, as the author puts it. Pamela Clarke lives in rural Cheshire, and as a widow she occasionally admits to feeling alone and maybe vulnerable since the arrival of Covid 19, but never old. Her diary relates a variety of adventures, from failing to defrost the freezer and exploring a hundred ways of cooking cabbage to learning the piano on line and puzzling out the provenance of the mystery gifts which tend to arrive on her doorstep.

I found this little book very amusing at times and also deeply nostalgic at others. If you are of my generation you will be entertained throughout.
This is a witty, quirky take on how to make the most of the time, well-being and good fortune you’ve been given each day.
A playful tonic. Cheers Pam.
An honest light hearted read about one persons way of coping during lockdown during the Coronavirus. High praise to the author.
A humorous dairy of lockdown in 2020 that we can all relate to especially those who were told not to leave there homes under any circumstances.
This will make you laugh, and cry, and think. And then leave you asking for a sequel: a post self- isolation diary? Clarke’s witty and poignant observations surely can’t be confined by the parameters of a pandemic…
A very funny but perceptive account of life in lockdown. Well worth reading.
Brilliantly funny and a real life version of 2020 so far
Meet Pamela Clarke…
I’m a 72-year-old widow living in a small Cheshire village. I’m very involved in activities – president of the WI and assistant choir mistress at church. I’m a retired teacher and semi-professional singer. My two grown sons live away, so I have kept myself busy during lockdowns with gardening, piano lessons, and writing.
